Board of Directors
Gregory W. Cappelli serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Group, Inc., Chairman of Apollo Global, and Director. Previously, Mr. Cappelli held the roles of Executive Vice President of Global Strategy and Assistant to the Executive Chairman. 

Before joining Apollo Group, Mr. Cappelli spent 10 years as a research analyst for Credit Suisse, where he most recently served as Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst, establishing the Credit Suisse Global Services Team. Prior to Credit Suisse, Mr. Cappelli was Vice President and Senior Research Analyst at ABN AMRO. He holds his B.A. in Economics from Indiana University and his M.B.A. from the Brennan School of Business at Dominican University.
 
Joe D’Amico is President and Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Group, Inc.  He has also held posts as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from June 2007 to March 2009 and Treasurer from December 2007 to March 2009.  Mr. D’Amico began with Apollo Group in November 2006 as interim Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. D’Amico was a senior managing director of FTI Palladium Partners, an interim management company and a division of FTI Consulting, Inc.  Prior to joining FTI, he was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers serving in a number of leadership positions with its Financial Advisory Services and earlier in his career was an audit partner for public and privately held companies. 

Mr. D’Amico received a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and a MBA from the University of Chicago.
 
Randy Dobbs most recently served as CEO of US Investigations Services, Inc. (USIS), an information and security services company serving human resource, insurance, government agencies and national security markets.   

Prior to joining USIS in 2005, Mr. Dobbs served as President and CEO of Philips Medical Systems, North America, an organization focused on private, public and government institutions.  While there, he was responsible for a field sales and service organization of more than 5,500 people and oversaw revenue in excess of $3.3 billion.

Prior to joining Philips Medical, Mr. Dobbs spent more than 25 years with the General Electric Company holding a variety of senior-level positions:  President and CEO of GE Capital - IT Solutions; EVP of Global Services; VP of Engineering Services  and General Manager of Services for GE Medical Systems.  While at GE Capital - IT Solutions, he was honored with General Electric's "Turnaround Business of the Year Award."
 
Charles "Chas" Edelstein serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer and Director of Apollo Group, Inc.  Mr. Edelstein has served in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors since he joined Apollo Group in August 2008.

Before joining Apollo, Mr. Edelstein spent more than 20 years with Credit Suisse, where he most recently served as Managing Director and headed the Global Services Group within the Investment Banking Division, as well as the Chicago investment banking office.

Prior to Credit Suisse, Mr. Edelstein was an auditor and management consultant at Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).  Mr. Edelstein holds his B.A. from the University of Illinois and his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar.

 
Roy A. Herberger, Jr. is President Emeritus of Thunderbird, School of Global Management, having served as the school's President from 1989 until 2004.  Dr. Herberger is a former Dean of the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and a former Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Graduate School of Business, University of Southern California (USC).  He is a Director of The International Business Education and Research Program (IBEAR), also at USC.

As a director of Apollo Group since 2007, Dr. Herberger is chairman of the Compensation Committee.  Additionally, Dr. Herberger is currently a director at Pinnacle West Capital Corporation, Eco2 Recycling Products, MedAire and a Trustee of the Mayo Clinic. 

Dr. Herberger holds a B.A. in Business and a M.A. degree in Communication from the University of Texas, Austin.  He also holds a Ph.D. in Business from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
 
Jeff Langenbach is the President of Apollo Global and oversees the company’s international operations and growth strategy.

Mr. Langenbach joined Apollo Group, Inc. in 2007 as the head of corporate development, focusing on international and domestic growth strategy and was instrumental in helping form Apollo Global.

Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Langenbach worked in investment banking with Credit Suisse and its predecessor firms (CS-First Boston and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette). During this time, his purview included clients in the business services and technology sectors.  Mr. Langenbach served for several years as COO of the Midwest Investment Banking operations at Credit Suisse, has had experience in the asset management sector with Zurich Investments and in the consulting sector with Andersen Consulting.

Mr. Langenbach received his Master's degree in management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (Dean's List), and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's in business administration (cum laude).
 
Charles O. Rossotti is a Senior Advisor with Carlyle Group and focuses primarily on investments in the fields of information technology and business services.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Rossotti served from 1997 to 2002 as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service.  Mr. Rossotti is the author of "Many Unhappy Returns" (Harvard Business School Press 2005), a book about his experience turning around the IRS.

In 1970, Mr. Rossotti co-founded American Management Systems, Inc. and until 1997 served at various times as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman.

Mr. Rossotti earned his A.B. in economics, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University and his M.B.A., with high distinction, from Harvard Business School. In 1970, he received the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal from the Department of Defense. In 2002, he received the Alexander Hamilton Medal from the Department of Treasury. In 2003, he received an Alumni Achievement Award from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Rossotti is on the Board of Directors of Carlyle portfolio companies, Apollo Global, Booz Allen Hamilton, Compusearch Software and Wall Street Institute. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of Bank of America Corporation and AES Corporation, a publicly-owned global electric power company. In addition to his business activities, Mr. Rossotti serves on the Boards of Capital Partners for Education and the Comptroller General’s Advisory Committee of the Government Accountability Office (GAO). In 2005, he served as a member of President Bush’s advisory panel on reform of the income tax.
 
Peter Sperling has been with Apollo Group since 1983 and was appointed Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors in December 2007.  He has been a Senior Vice President since June 1998.  Mr. Sperling has held the posts of Apollo Group’s board Secretary and Treasurer from December 2006 to December 2007.  He has also served as Vice President of Administration from 1992 to June 1998 and the Secretary and Treasurer of Apollo Group, Inc. from 1988 to February 2003.


During his tenure at Apollo Group, Mr. Sperling was the Director of Operations at Apollo Education Corporation and Director of Management Information Services of Apollo Group, Inc.

Mr. Sperling received his M.B.A. from University of Phoenix and his B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Mr. Sperling is the son of John G. Sperling.
